Fort Bend Commissioner, Dexter McCoy
Commissioner Dexter L. McCoy is a proud product of Fort Bend County, serving Precinct 4 residents on
Commissioners Court since January 2023. Commissioner McCoy was raised by his parents in Mission
Bend.
Commissioner McCoy began his public service career as an appointee in the Obama Administration,
working as an aid to the Secretary of Education. Following his time in Washington, D.C., Commissioner
McCoy returned home where he became a district leader in Fort Bend ISD. There he delivered students
and families the tools they needed to build stronger, more connected communities. He later served as
Chief of Staff to the Fort Bend County Judge where he advanced support for local non-profits and
internet access.
A product of Fort Bend County public schools, Commissioner McCoy earned his Bachelor’s degree in
Broadcast Journalism and Political Science from Boston University, where he served as Student Body
President.
Commissioner McCoy and his wife Chelsea live in Richmond, Texas with their daughter Piper and their
goldendoodle Fitz.
